Is the Nokia N96 relevant?

by pnksniper on Sep.30, 2008, under N96, Nokia, Random

The N96 has been released recently and is the flagship device for Nokia. It has many improvements over the N95 such as internal storage (16gb), kickstand, better battery life, windows media support, etc. But does this flagship device really compete with other devices that are on or coming to the market? I don’t think so. Which brings to mind the question, is this entry by Nokia relevant? There are currently two competitors out there that are eyeing to take the Nokia N96 off the throne as media king. The fairly well known Samsung Innov8 i8510 (8MP with Symbian S60), the just announced Samsung M8800 and LG KC780. All of the phones above trump the N96 in the MegaPixel category.  I guess we will see whether the N96 can remain dominant even though its specification are under its competition.

StreetView coming to Google Maps Mobile.

by pnksniper on Sep.27, 2008, under Uncategorized

After almost a year of a native GoogleMaps application for the S60 many revisions have been released that brought many improvements.  But most of the updates never really added a dramatic new feature until now.  WIth forthcoming release of version 2.3.1 for S60 and other devices users will be able to initialize Street view.  Street View has been a great feature that has been available to the desktop version of GoogleMaps but has only been recently  seen on handsets such as the TMobile/HTC G1.  The software is not limited to viewing it on a map but will also allow full screen support of Street View for better viewing and 360 degree rotation.  For a demonstration, enjoy the video below.

Nokia E72 and E75?! Already?

by pnksniper on Sep.19, 2008, under Uncategorized

According to some sources on the internet Nokia has already started testing on new E-series devices that will be released in the near future.  One being a exact clone to the E71 and the other being a new slide out form factor like the HTC S740, dubbed the E75.  Both look great in this leaked video, but as far as specs go I haven’t we’ll have to see what surfaces.  Hopefully the E72 will have a better camera and possible sturdier plastic body that will correct alot of the reception issues that the E71 was plagued with.  Enjoy the video below.

HTC TOUCH HD on video.

by pnksniper on Sep.18, 2008, under Random

It was bound to happen sooner or later, a video of the HTC Touch HD has hit the web courtesy of Generation Phone House.  Althought the broadcast is all in French it does have quite a bit of eye candy to offer.  The pair show off the camera, youtube application, and there is a good comparison of the HTC Touch HD to the Samsung Omnia and Apple Iphone 3G.  The screen looks gorgeous.  I can’t wait until this hits U.S. shores. Enjoy!
