Nokia 6300: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly!

I have been using the Nokia 6300 for about a week now and what can I say, I do miss having a high end phone and take it for granted everyday.  But I still love, hate, and doubly hate some of the phones offerings and would like to share that with you.  The Nokia 6300 is a mid range phone that offers the following:

  • 2″ 16 million color screen
  • 2 MP camera
  • Bluetooth
  • FM radio
  • Metal Housing
  • MP3 Player
  • MicroSD slot

Although not the most feature rich phone I did have good reception most of the time that I was using the device.  Also I was in a noisy arcade when I received a call and the other party could not even hear the background noise, the Nokia 6300 has built in noise cancellation feature.  So lets get the break down.

The Good:

  • excellent reception quality
  • firm case with high quality metal housing
  • loud ringer with side lights to notify visually
  • bright screen with good color
  • good photo quality with camera
  • bright & even illumination of the keypad
  • MicroSD slot
  • Noise Cancellelation for improved call quality and sound

The Bad:

  • 2″ screen is small
  • The keys have a gummy feeling to them making it hard to text and type
  • battery consumption is quick
  • USB port on bottom is difficult to open
  • unit does not sync well to PC over bluetooth
  • MicroSD slot does not support SDHC

The Ugly:

  • Under powered phone with very few options
  • flawed menu system (type a text, send a text, the text still remains on the screen able to be edited)
