Amazon lowers price of Nokia N900 to $480

After being delayed it seems that Nokia/Amazon is feeling charitable by offering a lower price and $50 mail in rebate bringing the total price down to $480 USD. Amazing, considering almost a week ago it was $509 USD after rebate. Now all that everyone is waiting for is the device to actually ship. Come’on Nokia!

A nice video posted on the Nokia Conversations site showing off the N900’s ability to play emulators. Only questions is I dont think I could play any game seriously with that control configuration.

While its been a long few weeks since Nokia officially announced that it was shipping N900’s the time has finally come when eager hands can go buy the N900 down at their local Nokia shop (Chicago, New York?). What does that mean? Well for the majority of us it means that we are still waiting and will be waiting until someone gets confirmation that NokiaUSA.com, Dell, or Amazon begin shipping. On that note those ordering after November 16th will be able to recieve an additional 50 dollars off the price with a handy new rebate that has popped up. The wait continues……

Although the N900 hasn’t been released its one of the most supported Nokia devices I’ve seen to date. This is a quick video Mozilla released showing its next generation browser and its capabilities on the N900. Although the N900 currently does have a browser built on Mozilla technology, Fennec will be an huge browser upgrade which is based on newer technology.

Slashgear has posted a side by side gallery with thoughts about both devices. By the write up it seems that the crew is more comfortable using the HD2 keyboard which is onscreen versus the N900’s physical keyboard.

Nokia is planning to hold events around the globe to celebrate the release of the N900. While celebrating a release isn’t something new for Nokia it is important to understand that this is a Maemo device and is not within the usual line of Symbian products that are offered from Nokia. For those lucky enough to be living in a location that has a N900 meetup close to them I encourage you to signup and head out there and have some fun. While the details are thin at this point Nokia is attempting to expand beyond flagship stores to other areas. I would love to have an event like this on the west coast, preferably Los Angeles.

Will the N900 support our favorite flash sites?

While we’ve been seeing a lot of the N900 lately, its come to mind whether this device will support some of the popular flash based media websites. I know that YouTube will of course be supported (as seen in almost every clip of it browsing the internet), but what about sites like Hulu, Veoh and other streaming sites?
