N96 gets a battery boost!
by pnksniper on Nov.19, 2008, under N96
Vaibhav Sharma from thesymbianblog has recently completed a great modification for the N-series flagship, the N96. He has packed the 1200mAh N78 battery into the N96 without any modification. The phone still looks stock and there is only positives to his modification. He questions why Nokia did not go with this solution in the first place stating that Nokia wanted to slim the N96 down, but as you can see this as no bulk whatsoever to the handset. I cant help but think that this will come standard in future release of the N96 handset. Full read below, Enjoy!
Face the Task: Third Challenge
by pnksniper on Nov.15, 2008, under N96, Nokia
As some of you may know various bloggers have been challenged by WOM World to “Face the Task” and use a N96 for various challenges. So far I havent seen too many interesting submissions, until last night. Jonny Bruha from ThoughtsOnS60 has posted his 3rd Task submission, and boy did I enjoy it. Great way to blow the competition away JB! Enjoy!

Will the N79 fare better then the often forgotten N78.
by pnksniper on Nov.07, 2008, under N79, N85, N96, Uncategorized
Today I was looking through Nokias site and completely forgot about the N79. The candy bar phone with Xpress on covers. The design is simple yet the specifications are immense. The phone has a 5 MP Carl Zeiss, GPS, 2.4″ 16million color display, 3.5mm headphone jack, most if not all the features available with the N85 and N96. But will this phone succeed or will it be left in the dust trails of the more popular N85, N96 and Xpress Music 5800?
ThoughtsOnS60 N96 Review

Jonny Bruha has put together and published his thoughts on the N96. He has a lot of interesting points and breaks down his likes and dislikes about the phone, software, etc. In the end he cant recommend that people pick up the N96 in its current state and price instead opting that the buyer should wait for a much improved version that could hit in the future or the N95. Is the Nokia N96 relevant?
by pnksniper on Sep.30, 2008, under N96, Nokia, Random
The N96 has been released recently and is the flagship device for Nokia. It has many improvements over the N95 such as internal storage (16gb), kickstand, better battery life, windows media support, etc. But does this flagship device really compete with other devices that are on or coming to the market? I don’t think so. Which brings to mind the question, is this entry by Nokia relevant? There are currently two competitors out there that are eyeing to take the Nokia N96 off the throne as media king. The fairly well known Samsung Innov8 i8510 (8MP with Symbian S60), the just announced Samsung M8800 and LG KC780. All of the phones above trump the N96 in the MegaPixel category. I guess we will see whether the N96 can remain dominant even though its specification are under its competition.
Face The Task? Was it really worth it?
by pnksniper on Sep.06, 2008, under N96, Uncategorized
For people who put in bids to WWF and Nokia for a chance to score an limited edition N96 earlier then the rest of the world, I ask you was it worth it? I see retailers online with the product available ($1000+) and Amazon is getting ready to release the phone on Oct 6th for 799.99? Im all for saving the animals and protecting the wildlife of our planet, but if it was for a chance to own the phone only a month in advance, that to me is not a worthy deal. Chime in if you have a difference of opinion. Oh maybe the deal was sweeter because they included a 8GB memory card and stereo bluetooth? O.o

N96 new phone, old problem. 950mAh battery, why?
by pnksniper on Sep.01, 2008, under N85, N96, Nokia
I was watching a preview of the N96 presented on Youtube by Cellulare Magazine and realized that part of the way in the previewer talked about the 950 maH battery. I wondered why Nokia has chosen to go with a smaller battery when it had made the same mistake when the N95-1 was released almost a year ago. What really got me to question this was the fact that I had watched a video preview for the N85. Not only does this phone have a more efficient OLED display but also offers a larger battery (1200 mAh). I just dont get it.
Nokia N96 U.S. 3G Model Available Q4/2008 for $895
by pnksniper on Aug.27, 2008, under N96, Nokia
After the initial flood of information from Nokia about the big 3 N-series devices that are launching, I took the time to read up on the press release for the Nokia flagship N96. Towards the bottom it is noted that:
“The Nokia N96 with Americas 3G support is expected to be available during the fourth quarter of 2008 for an estimated price of USD 895. ”
I find it relieving knowing that the U.S. market will not have to wait over 3 months to get a U.S. branded version of the this phone. It has been a recent trend with Nokia and I hope they will continue to release the NAM/U.S. spec model within a month of the EU/ASIA release.
